Emergency Services - 3/17/14

Theft and vandalism reports were filed Saturday, Sunday and today unless otherwise noted.

Walla Walla

Coffee Cravings burglarized. Nothing reported stolen.

Police responded to a report of domestic violence in the 1500 block of West Rose Street. A a 27-year-old man told officers he fell down the stairs. His girlfriend, Blanca Herrera, 27, however admitted she hit the man with a metal pipe in the head during an argument. Herrera was arrested on investigation of second-degree assault.

A cell phone, credit card and driver’s license reportedly stolen from Safeway on Plaza Way.

A 2007 Ford 500 was reportedly stolen from Luttrell’s Auto Center.

A truck was reportedly stolen from the 300 block of South Second Avenue. The pickup was later recovered and Jon P. Saunders, 29, was arrested on investigation of vehicle theft.

Two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Tausick Way and Campus Loop. No injuries reported.

Two adult-women made a 9-year-old girl cry when the child overheard a conversation denigrating her mother. The mom in question later confronted the two women, prompting the gossips to call police.

Walla Walla County

Two tablet computers reported stolen in the 600 block of Blalock Drive.

A 33-year-old man reported he was assaulted by two other inmates at the Walla Walla County Jail.

Two semi-automatic rifles reported stolen in the 7200 block of East Highway 12.


Report of a man burning plastic-coated wire in the 8400 block of Woodrow Street. A witness reported it is an ongoing issue.

Electric scooter reported stolen in the 83000 block of Eastside Road.

Chimney fire reported in the 53000 block of Appleton Road.

A tab reported stolen from a vehicle license plate in the 1500 block of North Columbia Street.

Three eggs reported stolen from a chicken house in the 85000 block of Tum A Lum Road.

A concerned woman reported her neighbor is burning tires on his property in the 84000 block of Edwards Road.

Umatilla County

A Weston woman called police to report she was stuck on York Road near Lower Dry Creek Road because her car was surrounded by five dogs that were jumping on her hood. The woman called back to report she had been able to get past the canines after all.

Attempted theft of wood in the 5800 block of Wildwood Loop near Weston.

An Appleton Road man reported he received a package that was supposed to have prescription medications in it. The package was empty.


WW Police

Blanca L. Herrera, 27, 313 W. Whitman Drive, College Place, Sunday. Charge: investigation of second-degree assault.

Jon P. Saunders, 29, 1344 University Street, Sunday. Charge: investigation of theft of a motor vehicle.
